Cala di Forno, enchanting beach in the Maremma Park
Cala di Forno is the southernmost beach in the Maremma Regional Park. This hidden gem lies between the hills of Talamone and Collelungo. Wild and untouched, it stretches for about 1.5 km of fine sand, bordered by high dunes shaped by the wind and covered with Mediterranean vegetation. These dunes are a precious habitat for various plant and animal species, including foxes, deer, and wild boars, while peregrine falcons soar above. The nearby rocky cliffs complete the stunning scenery with a natural, unspoiled charm.
Cala di Forno is the perfect destination for those seeking peace, natural beauty, and an authentic experience. As part of the Maremma Nature Park, access to the beach is regulated to protect the fragile ecosystem. Visitors can reach it either by boat or via a scenic 10 km hiking trail through Mediterranean scrubland. Guided tours are also available in summer, offering a deeper discovery of the area's flora and fauna.
Because the beach is isolated and has no facilities, Cala di Forno attracts fewer visitors than other more popular beaches in the region. This allows guests to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere in unspoiled nature. It's advisable to bring water, food, an umbrella, and comfortable shoes to fully enjoy the day in this remote paradise.
